03.09.2020On September 3, 2020, Pyatigorsk Regional Museum held an action called Silent Firework for the Day of Solidarity in the Fight Against Terrorism. This special day is inseparably associated with the events, which took place in Beslan in 2004. Veteran M.B. Cherbishev, chairman of the Union of Military Veterans of Pyatigorsk, told about them at the meeting.
Students of Pyatigorsk State University, active members of Nasledie Theater, took part in the action with enthusiasm and read poems by S.Esenin, S.Rybalko, I.Gukezheva, B.Okudzhava. Marina Chekhoeva, a participant from the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania, shared her emotional experience: “Terrorist attack… Children… Beslan… I will remember those words for the rest of my life. In my native Ossetia, we shared those horrible days together, and they became a part of our lives. After I heard about the Silent Firework action, I agreed to take part in it with big enthusiasm. The most interesting was to hear the history of the boy, who was taken captive by the terrorists, and how everything that happened in those dreadful three days affected his later life. I also noticed that school students who came here were listening to us with great interest. I hope that each of them will learn from it and will understand this simple truth, that nothing is better than peace and silence.”
The action ended in white balloons launching in memory of the victims of terrorist attacks and law enforcement officers, who died while discharging their duties.
