On September 10, 2020, Pyatigorsk State University held an opening of Russian Language and Bi(poly)-lingualism in the Intercultural Communication of 21st century: Cognitive and Conceptual Aspects - XII All-Russia Scientific and Practical Conference with International Participants, which is organized annually at the university and has already become a tradition.

This year's opening was organized following all necessary safety measures and social distancing. The conference itself was held online.

The conference was organized by the North Caucasus Scientific and Research Institute of Philology at PSU (headed by A.M. Kazieva) and Chair of the Literature and Pedagogic Technologies of Philological Education of the Institute of Translatology and Multilingualism (headed by I.B. Fedotova) with the participation of Russian Language in the North Caucasus – Scientific and Research Laboratory (headed by L.V. Vitkovskaya).

The reports were presented by Professor A.M. Kazieva from the Chair of Pedagogic Education of ITAM, head of the North Caucasus Scientific and Research Institute of Philology; I.B. Fedotova, Head of the Chair of Literature and Pedagogic Technologies of Philological Education, Head of the Pushkin Institute - Center of Russian Language and Culture; A.F. Petrenko, Professor at the Chair of Literature and Pedagogic Education; G.G. Kuregyan, Associate Professor at the Chair of Literature and Pedagogic Education, and others.

The geography of the conference participants was quite diverse and included Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Pyatigorsk, Nalchik, Maykop, Minsk (Belarus), Samarkand (Uzbekistan), Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan), Baku (Azerbaijan), Teheran (Iran), and other cities.

The conference also involved bachelor’s and master’s students from the Department of Literature and Pedagogic Education, who study majors like 44.04.01 Pedagogic Education, 44.03.01 Pedagogic Education, 44.03.05 Pedagogic Education (with two majors).

During the conference, a presentation of Megalog – international fiction and scientific journal – took place. The journal aims at getting the reader acquainted with contemporary literature of peoples of the Russian Federation, North Caucasus, CIS countries, the literature of North Caucasus diasporas as translated into Russian, as well as Russian language literature of national authors. A principal concept of the journal coincides with the concept of the Conference which is the formation of a unique cultural bridge that connects peoples, countries, and continents with the Russian language.
