Grankin Yuriy Yuryevich
After school graduation in 1989, he entered the Philological Department at Pyatigorsk State Pedagogical University of Foreign Languages.
After the institute graduation, Yuriy Grankin worked 4 years as a teacher of Russian language and literature at school in Urozhaynoe, Levokumsk region of Stavropol Krai. After that, he became a professor and then a Head of Department in Pedagogic College in Cherkessk, Karachay Cherkess Republic, Deputy Head of the ideological department of the City Committee of CPSU of Cherkessk.
Since 1998 Y.Y. Grankin has been working at PSLU. He began from the position of assistant, then a senior lecturer of the Chair of Russian and foreign history, being actively engaged in the studies about the history of the peoples of the North Caucasus, and Deputy Dean for academic work of the Department of State Service and Management. In 2002 Y.Y. Grankin defended a Candidate thesis on “Trade and Economic Relations of Russia and Peoples of Western and Central Caucasus: establishment, development, specificity (late 18th – first half of 19th century)”, majoring in 07.00.02 – Russian History, and was appointed as Assistant Professor of the Chair of Russian and Foreign History at PSLU. In 2004 he became an Assistant Professor at the Chair of History.
In 2002-2005 Y.Y. Grankin worked as Prorector for part-time, extramural, and distant education of the university. From December 2005 to August 2006 Yuriy Grankin occupied the position of Prorector for Academic Work, from 2007 he became a Prorector for academic policy and innovational development of university potential. In 2008 he was elected as Professor of the Chair of Russian and Foreign History (now the Chair of Historic, Social and Philosophic Disciplines, Oriental Studies, and Theology).
In 2012 Y.Y. Grankin defended his Doctoral thesis on “Implementation of the Economic Strategy of Development of the North Caucasus during the Second Caucasus Vicegerency (1844-1882)” in the field of 07.00.02 – Russian history, and in 2013 he received a rank of Professor of the Chair of History of Country and Law of Russian and Foreign Countries.
Professor Y.Y. Grankin is an author of more than 90 academic works, published in central and local scientific journals, author and co-author of 12 scientific monographs, dedicated to the history of the peoples of the North Caucasus, and history of economic relations between Russian settlers and mountain peoples of the North Caucasus in XVIII-XIX centuries, 18 articles published in HAC journals, 1 SCOPUS article. RSCI publications amount to 38, giving the Hirsch index of 5. Yuriy Grankin published several methodical materials on the history of the North Caucasus peoples. Professor Y.Y. Grankin reads lectures about Russian history and the history of government management in Russia. Professor Y.Y. Grankin is an active participant in the range of international and all-Russia scientific forums on the issues of history. He supervises the scientific work of postgraduate students and candidates. Under the direction of Professor Y.Y. Grankin, three Candidate theses were defended in the field of 07.00.02 – Russian history. He is a member of a Dissertation Board D 212.245.12 at North Caucasus Federal University.
Professor Y.Y. Grankin received a commemorative medal “For Merit to Pyatigorsk”, certificate of the Ministry of Education of Stavropol Krai, certificate of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and “Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation”.
