International Maslenitsa Takes Place in PSU


March 4th is the beginning of Maslenitsa week this year. Institute of Translatology and Multilingualism celebrated the tastiest spring holiday with songs, dances, and pancakes. From the early morning, the university atmosphere was filled with a fabulous scent of long-awaited pancakes. Department of Literature and Pedagogic Technologies hosted a lot of guests. Students, gymnasium students, foreign students, and lectors sang together funny songs and danced in ring, according to Russian traditions. They also participated in holiday contests and ate pancakes. Russian students told about the old customs of this festival, showed their talents, and the most active guests were awarded prizes. The celebration terminated with a traditional burn of Lady Maslenitsa, which symbolizes a farewell with winter and getting rid of the problems. Foreign students who came to the fest learned a lot of new and interesting things about Russian folk traditions, customs, and symbols, and participated in contests as well.

The event was organized through the Chair of Literature and Pedagogic Technologies of Philological Education ITAM, Pushkin Institute – center of Russian language and culture, Center of International Education, Debut-UNI gymnasium, Nina Bagyan, and Meri Stepanyan – III year students of the Department of Literature and Pedagogic Education ITAM.
