Assiut University (Egypt) Welcomes PSU Students

Headed by Professor D.A. Mirgorod from the Chair of International Relations, Politology, and World Economy, students of the Institute of Translatology and Multilingualism and Institute of International Relations came to partner university to study Arab language on October 21, 2019, within the framework of the cooperation agreement between Pyatigorsk State University (Pyatigorsk, Russia) and Assiut University (Assiut, Egypt), backed by the Department of International Relations of PSU.

PSU students will study the Arab language, Arab civilization, and history of Islam within the next two months. Besides the study, the host country traditionally organizes a cultural program in order to acquaint our students with the rich historical legacy of Egypt.

On October 23, Assiut University organized an official reception, where President of Assiut University, Dr. Tarek El-Gammal welcomed the PSU delegation. Dr. El-Gammal underlined in his speech a high level of cooperation and reliance between our universities and expressed hopes for further collaboration development.

Dr. Hassan Abdel-Hamid, Counsellor for Relations with Russia, Director of Pushkin Institute – Center of Russian Language and Culture in Assiut, also attended the meeting and annunciated the beginning or Russian language classes for Egyptian students, which will be given next two months by N.G. Shabdarova, a lecturer from the Center of International Education.

The program of language and cultural exchange between universities has been successfully carried out for a long term thanks to Dr. Salah Abu Elhava, who was among the initiators of the Center of Russian Language, which later became Pushkin Institute – Center of Russian Language and Culture.

The Department of International Ties and Education Programs of PSU expresses gratitude to the main manager of the Assiut University President office, Mr. Taher Hassan Abdel Hafiz Eisa for his comprehensive support in organizational issues solution.
