On October 23, 2019, German Academic Exchange Service DAAD presented scholarship programs for 2020 at the Institute of Romance and German Languages of Pyatigorsk State University.

DAAD is the biggest German organization, which unites German universities and promotes the development of international academic cooperation by means of students and scholars exchange.

Students of the Institute of Romance and German Languages, Informational and Humanitarian Technologies, Institute of Translatology and Multilingualism, Institute of Foreign Languages and International Tourism, Higher Schol of Management, lecturers of the Chair of German Studies and Intercultural Communication, and the Chair of Linguocommunicativisics and Applied Foreign Languages visited the presentation.

DAAD lecturer in Pyatigorsk State University Sabine Korin let everyone get acquainted with the work of the German Service of Academic Exchanges and its scholarship programs.

She told in detail about scholarship programs for summer courses of German in universities of Germany, which are very popular among students.

Summer courses are intended for improvement of German language (general linguistic knowledge and competencies, profession-oriented linguistic training) and country study.

Sabine Korin told about the peculiarities of the scholarship submission procedure and requirements to be met by applicants.

Every year PSU students, who study German, successfully win the competition and become DAAD scholarship holders.

In 2019, 7 students from PSU won this scholarship program and obtained an opportunity to study three-week courses of German in universities of Germany, three of them are the students of IRGLIHT’s Department of German and English Languages:
Ekaterina Anferova - «Deutsch als Fremdsprache» language course, Universität Passau (Passau).
Darina Merza and Natalya Surikova - «Deutsch intensiv» language course, Fachhochschule Aachen (Aachen).

The students shared their experience in submission for the competition and their impression of education in German cities.

The course programs were rich and diverse. They included educational blocks (Leseverstehen, Hörverstehen, Grammatik, Sprachfertigkeit, Phonetik), project work (Deutsche Landeskunde, Wirtschaft, Schreibatelier) with the focus on the improvement of linguistic, country study, and intercultural competencies of students.

After the courses, PSU students received certificates of their level of German (C1).

PSU scholarship holders thank M. Wenzel, DAAD lecturer in Pyatigorsk State University from 2014 to 2019, for the advisory support.
