PSU Sums Up the Results of the Enrollment 2020 and Celebrates the Day of Knowledge
01.09.2020On September 1, 2020, Pyatigorsk State University celebrated the Day of Knowledge. This year the event was organized following all the restrictive measures: unfortunately, there was no university parade at the square before the main bulging; the students had their temperatures checked and were given masks at the entrance; specialized germicidal air recircualators were placed everywhere inside the university, and all the surfaces were disinfected with antiseptic.
In total for all levels and forms of education, the Enrollment 2020 turned out to be the best in the last 8 years. The plan for the budget places at all levels was carried out in full, although non-budget places also faced the increase of students. The enrollment will continue for a couple of months but only for the secondary vocational education programs, which also saw the 30% increase as compared to the 2019 enrollment.
By tradition, PSU received bachelor’s and master’s students from many regions of the Russian Federation, including all regions of NCFD and SFD, as well as students from other countries. At present, students of higher and secondary vocational education, master’s students, postgraduates, and interns from 73 Russian regions and 40 foreign countries study at Pyatigorsk State University.
Due to the complex epidemiological situation in the country, the vivid parade on September 1st was replaced with meetings with freshers. They were welcomed by the deans of every Institute and Higher School keeping social distance.
The guys were told about the university structure, PSU education peculiarities, and the specialties and majors which they are going to study.
Rector of PSU Aleksandr Gorbunov delivered the valedictory address to the students: “Dear first-year students, we are glad to welcome you in our close-knit family of Pyatigorsk State University. You are true winners! You managed to cope with quarantine, pass exams with good points, and enter the university. I’m sure that you will feel warm and cozy here because in our university we’ve created a system of relations so each student could feel mutual respect.
