PSU Educational Process in New Conditions

On October 30, 2020, the Governor of Stavropol Krai V.V. Vladimirov signed the decision, which binds all higher educational facilities to start implementing educational programs through the distant educational technologies beginning from November 1, 2020. In order to comply with the decision, on November 2, 2020, all the students of Pyatigorsk State University were shifted to online education using distant technologies.

Professor A.P. Gorbunov, Rector of Pyatigorsk State University, Chairman of the Council of NCFD Institutions Rectors, told Stavropolie shooting crew (for Rossiya-24) details about the educational process at PSU: “Our university has created all the conditions for qualitative online education. The process is organized following the same pattern as it was in spring, there were no big alterations to that. We have significantly improved all our abilities: we managed not only to give distant classes from March to July but also to organize midterms and hold a final state examination.” Aleksandr Gorbunov stressed the fact that for successful implementation of educational programs using distant technologies in the recent period the university has worked at the regulatory framework, broadened the methodical recommendations, courses of advanced training, and retraining.

It is worth noting that lecturers of Pyatigorsk State University upload academic materials, practical tasks, and tests to the Electronic Informational and Education System. Every student is provided with individual and unhindered access to the system during the whole terms of education at the university.

To organize online communication while teaching with distant educational technologies, PSU introduced the possibility to hold classes as webinars, which allows following the educational process schedule. The Electronic Informational and Educational System of PSU allows observing the whole process of learning.

Pyatigorsk State University continues supporting and developing international cooperation with other universities. It is important to emphasize that despite current conditions, connected with coronavirus spreading in Russia and abroad, foreign lecturers continue taking part in the educational process of the university thanks to the same distant technologies. Our teaching staff keeps giving online classes at foreign universities as well.

The educational process at the university never stopped, but at present it is fully shifted to online education, using distant technologies.
