  • вопросы теоретической и прикладной лингвистики, журналистики и литературоведения;
  • политология, геополитика и проблемы международной безопасности;

Cambridge University Library, Oxford University Bodleian Library, The Library of Congress и др.

Times New Roman – 14.

а) «Введение»: в данном разделе необходимо обосновать актуальность темы статьи, ее цель, четко обрисовать научную проблему, решению которой статья посвящена, продемонстрировать современный уровень разработанности обсуждаемой проблемы в отечественной и (желательно) зарубежной науке;

б) «Методы»: в данном разделе должны быть эксплицированы общенаучные и частнонаучные методы, использованные автором (авторами) для достижения заявленной цели; при необходимости в этом разделе можно рассмотреть методологические проблемы, связанные с решением обсуждаемой в статье проблемы, обосновать целесообразность применения нестандартных, непарадигмальных, междисциплинарных методов;

в) «Материал исследования»: здесь следует описать объем эмпирического материала, на основе которого проводилось исследование, определить степень репрезентативности привлеченного материала, при необходимости оговорить источники эмпирического материала, выразить благодарность частным лицам, организациям, фондам поддержки научных исследований, благотворителям за возможность использования тех или иных источников;

г) «Исследовательские результаты и их интерпретация»: в этом разделе (в тексте статьи он, безусловно, основной и самый объемный) необходимо логично и последовательно представить результаты, полученные в ходе исследования, а также (это обязательно!) предложить их интерпретацию;

Web of Knowledge.

  6. Minsky M. A. The framework for representing knowledge // Frame conceptions and text understanding / Ed.by D. Metzing. N.Y.: Gruyter, 1980. P. 1-25.

Authors Notice

Terms and conditions of publication

Since April, 2009, the journal has been included in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI); full-text versions of the journal are available on the RSCI platform (www.elibrary.ru) as well the international systems of INDEX COPERNICUS, EBSCO and Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory. Submitted articles are accepted for consideration if they reflect new scientific viewpoints, significant results and achievements in fundamental and/or applied studies in the field of humanities and interdisciplinary subject domains in the following main sections:

·         issues of theoretical and applied linguistics, journalism and literary criticism;

·         political science, geopolitics, issues of international relations.

Also accepted are reviews (4-5 pp.) and reports of scientific life (chronicles of meetings, symposia, conferences, seminars, etc. – up to 6 pp.).

By prior agreement with the journal’s editorial board announcements of all-Russian and international conferences, symposia and seminars can also be accepted for publication.

The editorial board and editorial council give priority to the submitted and reviewed articles in the spheres of linguistics (philology), literary criticism, theory and history of pedagogics, intercultural communication teaching methods, and political science.

All submitted materials are subject to verification for incorrect borrowings. Any articles that have been published and/or accepted for publication in other editions are not allowed to be submitted to the journal.

The editorial board does not always share the authors' viewpoints and is not responsible for the reliability of the published data.

Payment for publication

Payment should be carried out only after a positive verdict of the reviewer has been received, all recommended revisions have been made in the text and the author’s agreement has been signed and sent to the Editorial Office.

Publication costs include the cost of the author’s hard copy of the journal as well as all the costs of its delivery to any region of the Russian Federation or the CIS. The cost also includes the delivery of the copies of the journal to the leading libraries of Russia, the CIS and the world: the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Far Eastern State Research Library, the Parliamentary Library of the Russian State Duma and Federal Assembly, the Central Scientific Library of the Urals Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Cambridge University Library, Oxford University Bodleian Library, The Library of Congress, etc.

Requirements for the articles and guidelines for their submission to the editorial board

The text of the article must be preceded by the UDC index.

The text should be typed in the Microsoft Word 97 word processor or later versions.

The recommended volume of the article is 12-18 A4 pages of typewritten text, with 1,5 line spacing, margins as follows: left – 3 cm, top – 3 cm, right – 1 cm, bottom – 3 cm, paragraph indent – 1 cm, font Times New Roman – 14 pt.

The top right hand corner must contain the initials and surname of the author(s) in bold type and italics, and below – full name of the organization, on the next line – the city and country in italics separated by a comma. The author has the right to be published once in one issue of the journal and to co-author one more article in the same issue. The recommended number of authors in the article is no more than three.

Articles submitted for consideration should be clearly structured, and the development of the article should be logical. The mandatory elements of the article are:

a) "Introduction": in this section, it is necessary to justify the topicality of the article, its purpose, clearly outline the scientific problem to the solution of which the article is dedicated, demonstrate the current level of development of the problem discussed in Russian and (preferably) foreign science;

b) "Methods": this section should explain the general and specific scientific methods used by the author(s) to achieve the stated goal; if necessary, this section can consider the methodological issues associated with the solution of the problem discussed, justify the feasibility of using non-standard, non-paradigm, interdisciplinary methods;

c) "The research material": here the author(s) should describe the amount of empirical material on which the research has been conducted, determine the degree of representativeness of the material involved, specify the sources of empirical material, if necessary, express gratitude to individuals, organizations, funds supporting the scientific research, and philanthropists for the opportunity to use these or other sources;

d) "The research results and their interpretation": in this section (in the text of the article, it is, of course, the main and most voluminous part), it is necessary to logically and consistently present the results obtained and (which is mandatory!) offer their interpretation;

e) "Conclusions": it is recommended to include in this section the general conclusions reached by the author(s); if necessary, the future prospects of the presented research can be outlined.

When forming a source base, the Editorial Board of Pyatigorsk State University Bulletin strongly recommends that authors use not only "classical" scientific literature, but also the latest research on the problem in question. Priority will be given to materials that take into account and reflect the opinion of not only Russian scientists, but also the world scientific community. It is recommended to use the latest sources of material from the international databases Scopus and Web of Knowledge.

References to the literature used must be made in square brackets in the body of the text, indicating the number of the source in the alphabetical list of literature placed at the end of the article as well as its page, for example: [2: 192]. The list of the works cited is strictly endnotes, i.e., it should be placed after the text of the article under the title «Bibliographical list» and be made in accordance with the rules of bibliographic description according to the functioning State Standard of 2008 (the Russian-language variant with the foreign sources), strictly in the alphabetical order; firstly, the sources in the Russian language, then the literature in a foreign language, for example:

  1. Zaitsev I.V Discursive practices of ordinary political consciousness. URL: http://www.volsu.ru (the date of access: 20.08.2011).
  2. Martynova L.N Poets from different countries. M.: Progress, 1964. 357 p.
  3. Petrov P.P. The evolution of the forms of the Navy use // Military Thought. 2006. № 4. P. 64-67.
  4. Sidorov I.P. Lexical and stylistic variability of the language: social and gender aspects: PhD Thesis in Philology: 10.02.19. Saratov, 2006. 198 p.
  5. Fet A.A. The response to the article «The Russian Messenger» of the «Odes of Horace» // Russian writers about the translation. L.: Sov. writer, 1960. P. 44-57.
  6. Minsky M.A. The framework for representing knowledge // Frame conceptions and text understanding / Ed. by D. Metzing. N.Y.: Gruyter, 1980. P. 1-25.

Description rules are the same for all sources, both Russian and foreign.

While considering materials, the Editorial Board prefers articles with references to foreign sources (not less than 30% of the bibliography).

The indication of the correct number of pages of printed sources is obligatory! In books, monographs, theses and author’s abstracts you should indicate the TOTAL NUMBER of pages (for example, 118 p.), in articles and chapters of collective monographs you should point out the numbers of the INITIAL AND FINAL PAGES (for example, P. 35-57).

The list of scientific publications in the Russian language should be transliterated in the Latin alphabet under the «Works Cited» title after the bibliography. We recommend to use the web-site www.translit.net with the BGN parameter in translating the names and titles in the sources.

We kindly ask you to make the bibliography with utmost care.

Footnotes are not allowed! In case the article represents the results of a grant and/ or of a government contract, we ask you to post this information right after the title of the article, in the center, in the 12 pt font size.

The printed version of the article should be sent to the Editorial Office in a hard package without folds.

All articles are subject to mandatory peer review by the Editorial Board in accordance with Regulations on reviewing manuscripts. The publication of the article and payment are made only after the positive verdict of the expert reviewer. In case of rejection of the article, the Editorial Board gives the author a motivated refusal for publication.

The acceptance of articles into a current issue may be completed earlier if the Editorial Office receives a large number of manuscripts (see «Schedule of the journal issue and submittal of articles»).

The printed version of the article should be sent with its electronic variant on a CD-ROM disc in .doc / docx or .rtf Microsoft Word formats, as well as information about the author including their full surname, name, patronymic name, workplace, position, academic degree, academic rank, full mailing address required to send the author’s copy of the journal, as well as the summary of the article in the Russian language (all these files MUST be recorded on a disk and sent separately!). The volume of the summary should be from 120 to 150 words. The number of key words separated by commas may vary from 12 to 15.

The summary of the article should be informative, meaningful, original and clearly structured. The summary includes the purpose and subject of the article, methods, as well as the main conclusions and results of the research. Please note that the summary is no less important than the article itself! The file names on the electronic medium should be as follows: «Article.doc», «Summary.doc», «Information about the author(s).doc».

The execution of schemes, drawings and graphs in Microsoft Word is not allowed! Insert all the graphic objects from a file in the .jpg (.jpeg) format.

The articles that do not meet these requirements will not be considered or reviewed!

The author’s fees are not paid for the publication.

Manuscripts that have been accepted for reviewing are not returned.

The articles can also be sent to the Editorial Office by e-mail. In case of using e-mail you do not need to send the article by regular post.

All the materials accepted for publication in the journal are published on the basis of the License agreement with the author (authors). Besides, each author fills in and signs in their own hand the Agreement to the personal data processing form.

Upon receipt of the notification of acceptance of the article for publication the author should print out 2 (two) copies of the License agreement form and 1 (one) copy of the Agreement to the personal data processing form, fill them in and send these documents by post to the Editorial Office. The final decision about the publication of the article will be made only after the receipt of the License agreement and the Agreement to the personal data processing form properly completed and signed.
